Today I went by the goodwill store to pick up some toys. Why? I wanted to take them apart. At the Tech we have a workshop called squishy circuit bending where we open up used toys we find at thrift stores, Salvation Army, etc. and “bend” or short circuit the boards to make different sounds. We do this by using our own hand-made circuit dough which is high in salt to make it extra conductive.
I was able to take the top 2 toys apart without any problems but the guitar was a bit tricky with the wires looped through the plastic. I’ll have to wait until I can use a Dremel tool to get it off. But for now that’s the best I could do. At this point I’m at a standstill until I can sketch up a diagram of what I want to create. But hey, this is a fun and CHEAP project to do at home. These toys only cost me $13 and I am completely satisfied with the results. The dough can be made with various household supplies. Just know you always want to use battery powered toys and you want to find the ones that play music.
Happy destroying!(:
